Our History

In the early 1970’s, Dick Carpenter and Bob Finnegan joined forces and started Carpenter-Finnegan Insurance Agency. After about 20 years, the name was changed to Ruthven Insurance Agency and in October 2012 was sold to Gregory Olson of Ruthven and renamed Olson Insurance Agency. After many years in the Ruthven State Bank and then Iowa State Bank, a new building was constructed at 1204 Gowrie Street in Ruthven and the new office was opened in October of 2017 where it’s presently located. Christie Poeppe joined the agency in April 2019. Greg retired January 2024 and sold the agency to Christie Poeppe of Emmetsburg. With the purchase of the agency Christie changed the name to Olson-Poeppe Insurance Agency.

Meet Christie

Christie has been a licensed insurance agent in Iowa since 2009. Christie joined Olson-Poeppe Insurance Agency in 2019. She greatly enjoys helping clients see their exposures and finding the best coverage possible. She has her licenses for all lines of insurance. Christie is a native of Emmetsburg. Christie and her husband, Chuck along with their children, Cale, Matt, Mallory and Payton enjoy their time on the lake, at a trap range, hunting and attending many other school activities.
